GCW has agreed a new, extended lease term with Empire on behalf of owner AEW. It includes an agreement to remodel the cinema to create a modern six-screen digital offer with better signage, improved double height glazing and a more modern internal feel. The state-of-the-art cinema will open next month.
The agreement with the cinema is the first key stage of AEW’s plans to deliver a viable leisure scheme within the 370,000 sq ft shopping centre. Plans for the leisure scheme include creating an attractive, modern environment for restaurant occupiers and the next stage will see three new restaurants open in units of between 2,500 to 4,500 sq ft.
In the last 12 months, several new retailers have opened in the centre including Pandora and Smiggle.
